I'm experimenting with controlling the temperatures in my primary fermenter using a twist on the "swamp cooling" method. Instead of wrapping a cotton t-shirt around the carboy I substituted a coolmax (micro fiber) running shirt. Wow, it really wicks up the water better than cotton and so far is keeping the temp between 68-70 degrees (ambient air is 76 degrees). Very pleased. Also found a yoga mat works great as a carboy pad! Here's the recipe: 2 cans of cooked pumpkin (grocery store) 6 lbs Light DME 1 bag- Specialty Malts w/ muslin bag Large Crystal Malt 60L 1.5 oz. Fuggle bittering pellet hops 1 tablet - Whirlfloc 1 oz. Pumpkin Pie Spice (grocery store) 1 oz. Cascade aromatic plug hops w/ muslin bag 1 tsp Amylase Enzyme 1 cup Priming Sugar for bottling See complete recipe in PDF format here: ebrew.com

Ok so the funny thing is I might in fact have had coroplast all along but im not sure if its it. My dad got it from his work and its like a sign for his work and it has that "sign" feel to it. Its fairly large to and we used it as a frame for one of my posters. Also, could I use a foamy yoga mat because it's really big and i read somewhere where it says you can but some say you can't because the guineas will eat through the mat. Thanks!
